~ About the Awards ~
More than 420 individuals working across the full breadth of the sustainable business community have been nominated for an award by their peers, alongside 80 of the UK's most exciting clean technology and green companies.
In total, the nominations process was completed 950 times, with several people scooping up multiple nominations for their work.
These awards are a celebration of the women working in the UK’s green economy, and the sustainability-focused companies taking strides to improve equity and inclusion across the industry.
For this year’s inaugural awards, there will be 25 award categories, split between awards for companies and individuals.
The Women in Green Business Awards are an opportunity to bring together the companies, individuals, and leaders striving to make the UK’s green economy more diverse, inclusive, and ultimately more productive, sustainable, and prosperous for all.
A just and rapid transition to a low-carbon economy depends on increasing the participation and retention of women across a raft of sectors. Representation of women remains low in STEM fields, energy and utilities, automotive, construction, and manufacturing - sectors that are all critical to the net zero transition and are facing a major skills crunch as demand for green roles explodes.
Meanwhile, women remain under-represented in senior roles in the vast majority of businesses, fuelling the gender pay gap and denying organisations a breadth of perspectives at board level. Women are critical to the success of green businesses, and the net zero transition as a whole.
The Women in Green Business Awards will showcase the companies committed to tackling gender inequities as they drive forward UK climate action, while celebrating the role women are already playing in building the UK’s green economy.
You can nominate yourself or a colleague. Please only nominate the same person once as the number of nominations does not contribute to future success.
Once nominations have closed, nominees will be asked to complete a questionnaire. This is for our judges to learn more about the nominee and their role. A questionnaire needs to be submitted in order to progress to the next stage.
The winners will be announced at the in-person awards ceremony on 3 October in London
