I am passionate about the positive impact engineers can have on the quality of the built environment. With an evidenced based approach to design and awareness of how buildings operate in practice I know that designers can deliver buildings that enhance lives, support wellbeing and improve resource efficiency. I have over 25 years’ construction industry experience, working on a diverse range of developments, including commercial, educational and residential buildings. I also lead sustainability and net zero carbon strategies on projects. I am actively involved in several industry groups and believe in the importance of broad stakeholder engagement in order that we can better understand the common challenges and opportunities. I am a member of the UKGBC ‘Advancing Net Zero’ Steering Group and I chair of the New London Architecture (NLA) net zero carbon expert panel. As Vice-President of CIBSE I have been involved in promoting better building performance.
