BusinessGreen will this autumn host a free webinar in partnership with Energy Networks Association (ENA) exploring the crucial role flexibility will play in driving the decarbonisation of energy systems both in the UK and around the world.

The virtual event will provide an invaluable overview of the fast-evolving flexibility sector and ask how energy companies, investors, policymakers, and businesses can help accelerate the development of flexible and smart grid technologies and services that promise to lower emissions and curb energy costs.

In light of Government’s recently published Smart Systems and Flexibility Plan 2021, which highlighted the potential for flexibility to reduce annual energy system costs by £10bn a year by 2050 whilst creating 24,000 jobs, it will provide a snapshot of the current play, showcase some cutting-edge projects, and ask how further development of the sector can be unlocked. It will also explore how businesses of all types can engage with flexible grids to help curb their emissions and energy costs.

Featuring a series of expert speakers, the event will bring together stakeholders from across the energy network sector to jointly explore the challenges and opportunities presented by the shift towards flexible technologies.

In addition, the session will provide an update on the ENA’s Open Networks' Flexibility Consultation, which launched at the end of July and stakeholders have until 24 September to respond to.

The interactive session is free to attend and will provide a unique opportunity to share experiences, discuss challenges, and opportunities, and identify some of the policies and investments that can help accelerate the flexibility market that will be essential to the success of the net zero transition.
